66 slum dwellers sent in police remand

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has remanded 66 slum-dwellers of Sector I-11 to police custody till August 4.

The police produced the 66 persons before ATC on Friday and sought their physical remand as they had allegedly pelted stones at police personnel and officials of the local administration during the ongoing anti-encroachment operation in the settlement.

The police have registered cases against 2,000 slum dwellers for resisting the ongoing operation. The police requested the court to grant physical remand of the accused for five days. The court, however, granted the physical remand for four days and adjourned the hearing.
