Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday announced Rs 500 million financial aid to help rehabilitate flood affectees in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The prime minister reviewed ongoing relief activities in flood-hit areas in Gilgit-Baltistan while local authorities briefed him on damages caused by floods.
Addressing flood affectees in Ganche, Sharif also announced Rs 500,000 as compensation for the heirs of those who lost their lives in the floods, Rs 150,000 each for the injured and Rs 250,000 to be allocated for reconstruction of each house damaged by the devastating floods.
Moreover, the premier announced a grant of Rs 150,000 million to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to expedite relief activities Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that the government is fully aware of the devastation caused by floods and would fully support Gilgit-Baltistan in the rehabilitation efforts.
The premier also mentioned the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, adding that Gilgit-Baltistan would greatly benefit from the project. He added that the road from Gilgit to Skardu will be improved and expanded further to Khaplu.
