The west zone police on Thursday conducted an operation in Frontier Colony of Orangi Town and arrested at least three criminals belonging to a human trafficking group recovering as many as three children safely.
During a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West Azfar Mehsar said that the police raided Frontier Colony on a tip off and apprehended trafficking group’s leader Abdul Ghani alias Yousaf among three criminals. The group used to sell children for Rs 40,000 each in Quetta after promises of providing jobs. The SSP said the children were exploited sexually also. The children who were recovered said they were told of jobs in hotels for Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000.
The police said the arrested culprits Yousaf, Shahbaz and Sikandar were also involved in several cases of killings and robberies. The criminals have confessed to murders in Gulistan Johar, Mehmoodabad and Ferozabad. Meanwhile, Rangers and police personnel recovered hidden weapons during search operation near the residence of a Sindh Assembly member in Lyari area of Karachi. On the identification of detained suspects, security personnel raided the area of Lyari and confiscated weapons hidden underground near Sindh Assembly member’s house.
Moreover, officers have launched an investigation into the matter.
