All set for LG repolling on 360 polling stations in KP today

Repolling on about 360 polling stations in 14 districts in connection with the local government elections in Khyber Pakthunkhwa will be held on Thursday (today).

The re- polling would be held in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Manshera and Buner districts. The polling would start at 8am and will continue till 5pm without any break. The voters inside the premises of polling stations would be allowed to cast their votes before starting of counting of ballot papers.

In KP, the total registered voters are 465,600 including 211,317 male and 254,283 females for whom the ECP has setup 360 polling stations including 89 for male, 170 for females, 101 combined besides 1,290 polling booths for voters’ facilitation.

In Peshawar, as many as 73,320 registered voters including 43,888 male and 29,432 females would exercise their right of franchise to elect their representatives for district, tehsil, general councilor and other seats concerned seats. The ECP has established 29 polling stations and 108 polling booths for the registered voters in Peshawar.

The European Union and human rights campaigners have previously urged Pakistan to reinstate the moratorium.
