New grid stations in Nowshera, Charsadda on the cards, NA told

State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Tuesday informed the National Assembly that setting of new grid stations on card in Charsadda and Nowshera to bifurcate load on power transformers in the areas.

Replying to a calling attention moved by Muhammad Gohar shah and others regarding non-replacement of the out of order and overloaded transformers in district Charsadda, Mardan and Lucky Marwat, the minister said that in areas of less line losses, out of order power transformers were replaced within 24 hours while in areas of more losses, it took 4 to 5 days.

Abid Sher said that 157 transformers were replaced with in cost of Rs.67 million in Charsadda, 84 transformers with cost of Rs.42 million in Mardan and 141 transformers with Rs.53.81 million in Lucky Marwat.

He said that earlier there was problem in procurement of new transformers due to high court stay order. However, he said that the stay order has been vacated three months ago.

He said that workshops were also set up in various districts to repair power transformers.

The minister said that a formula was also devised in consultation with KPK Chief Minister under which now the provincial government could procure power transformers from anywhere.

He said that efforts were being made to replace overloaded transformers.

Meanwhile, private members bills of Jamshaid Ahmed Dasti, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vakwani were rejected due to opposition from treasury benches.

Jamshaid Ahmed Dasti moved bills to further amend the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinace, 2000 and amend the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 (Act No XLV of 1860) in the House.

However, the bills were opposed by State Minister for Interior Balighur Rehman.

Similarly, [the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015] (Amendment of Article 25A) moved by Dr Ramesh Kumar could not sail through the House due to opposition by Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Minister Barrister Usman Ibrahim.
