The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday sought a progress report in a murder case of Orangi Pilot Project Director Dr Parveen Rehman.
A larger SC bench comprising Justice Hani Aslam, Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the petition filed by the Human Rights Commission at its Karachi registry.
During the hearing, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Feroz Shah and other police officers appeared before the court. The DIG informed the court that police had found enough evidences but investigation officer of the case SSP Pir Muhammad Shah was on the leave and that’s why the report could not be produced. He requested the court to give police some time for producing the report. The court adjourned the hearing and sought the progress report of the case during the next hearing.
Earlier the Supreme Court had noticed on a letter written by the Human Rights Commission appealing it to take notice of Parveen’s murder. Dr Parveen Rehman was killed when the assailants shot her near Karachi’s Korangi Area on February 13, 2013, when she was on his way to home.
