Rangers detain three suspects for 90 days

The Sindh Rangers Tuesday produced three suspects before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and informed it about their 90-day preventive detention for questioning.

The personnel of Rangers, along with their counsel, produced Muhammad Abid, Abdul Waqar and Muhammad Ali before the court amid tight security. According to the Rangers, the suspects were involved in offences related to targeted killings and extortion. The suspects allegedly belonged to a political party and arrested from Burns Road area of Karachi.

The court allowed the paramilitary force to detain the suspects for 90 days for interrogation, considering section 11EEEE (1) of the ATA. The paramilitary force has the authority to detain suspects for the period of three moths for questioning under section 11EEEE (1) of ATA. The production of the suspect with relevant documents was made in compliance with section 11EEEE (3) of ATA for the information and record of the court.
