The Punjab PDMA is keeping a vigilant eye on possible flood situation in Punjab and edible and essential items have been provided to all affected districts as per the requirements, said Punjab Chief Relief Commissioner Nadeem Ashraf on Monday.
Giving the details, he said that 8,600 tents and 232 boats have been distributed among the administration of seven districts affected due to rains and flood water. He said that 136 flood relief camps have also been set up where meal is being provided to 26,067 affectees regularly by the administration.
He said that 53,000 food hampers of 20 kg each, 72,000 mineral water bottles and 10,925 bags of fodder of 10 kg each were provided for animals whereas four hundred and seventy nine thousand cattle were vaccinated.
Earlier, Ashraf along with district administration inspected bunds at various nullahs. Later, addressing the meeting of district officers at Committee Room of the DCO Office, he said that all precautionary measures should be taken regarding possible floods so that drainage of flood water from low lying areas could be ensured. He directed that the de-silting of rainy nullahs passing through Sialkot should be carried out at the earliest so that flow of water continues smoothly and does not cause any loss to any locality.
The chief relief commissioner instructed authorities to shift people to safe places in case of danger of floods.
He said that the Punjab PDMA has provided 500 tents, 500 plastic mats and 500 mosquito nets to the administration of district Sialkot.
DCO Sialkot Dr Asif Tufail told that cleanliness of nullahs has been completed throughout the district. He told that a control room has also been set up for flood monitoring whereas boats, life jackets, dewatering sets, medicines and other edible and essential items are available in abundance.
