Over 70 per cent pass BISE matriculation exam

  • Position holders, teachers awarded with medals, laptops, cash prizes
  • Top two positions secured by girl students

The top two positions in the secondary school certificate annual examination (SSE) for 2015 were secured by girl students as the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) announced the results of matriculation and awarded prizes among the top students.

Shafaq Zahid stood first with 1,080 marks (out of 1,100 total marks) and Aleena Mohsin second with 1,079 marks. With 1,078 marks each, the third position was shared by Ira Abid from DPGHSS, Model Town, Lahore, Ayesha Noor from Pak Garrison High School Girls, Nankana Sahib, and Imtanan Fazal from Government Central Model High School (GCMHS), Lower Mall, Lahore.

In science group (girls), Shafaq Zahid stood first with 1,080 marks, Aleena Mohsin second with 1,079 marks and Ira Abid and Ayesha Noor shared the third position with 1,078 marks each.

In science group (boys), Muhammad Imtanan Fazal stood first with 1,078 marks; Muhammad Hunzala Younas Toor of The Islamic Public High School for Boys, Green Town, Lahore, stood second with 1,074 marks and Talha Bin Asad of GCMHS, Lower Mall, Lahore, third with 1,071 marks.

In humanities (girls), Rimsha of Farooqi Girls High School, Ravi Road, Lahore, stood first with 1,053 marks, Afshan Shahdin of Society Public Girls High School, Lahore, second with 1,052 marks and Amina Farooq of FGHS, Ravi Road, third with 1,048 marks.

In humanities (boys), Usama Abid, a private candidate, stood first with 1,031 marks. Habibullah Ibrahim of Islamia Model High School for Boys, Multan Road, Lahore, stood second with 1,018 marks and Muhammad Asim, a private candidate, third with 991 marks.The passing percentage was 70.18 as 135,844 candidates from a total of 192,844 passed the exam conducted by BISE.

A total number of 109,802 appeared in science group out of which 86,728 (78.99 percent) candidates could pass their exam.

The Humanities group had 58.53 pass percentage, in which 83,042 candidates appeared and 48,608 were declared successful.

Punjab Minister for Food Bilal Yaseen was the chief guest of the award distribution ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by provincial assembly members (MPAs) Rana Arshad, Waheed Alam, Mian Marghoob, Majid Zahoor, Lahore Board Chairman Dr Nasrullah Virk, Lahore Board Secretary Faqir Muhammad Kaifi and Lahore Board controller Anwar Farooq.

Shafaq Zahid of Divisional Public School who clinched first position in Board’s overall exam was awarded a gold Medal, Laptop and Rs 20,000 cash while second and third position holder students were given silver and bronze medals and Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 cash each, respectively. It is pertinent to mention here that this year passing ratio was more than 70 per cent which is encouraging. The teachers of position holder students were also decorated with medals.

The ceremony was also attended by the parents and teachers of position holders.

Meanwhile, the board has also announced that SSC supplementary examination would start from September 8.

The students can submit their application forms with single fee from July 26 till August 7. With double fee, students could submit their forms between August 8 and August 17 and with triple fee; the board will accept application forms from August 18 till August 20.

While talking to journalists, the position holders highlighted the current problems of the country as corruption, nepotism, energy crisis and terrorism that are haunting their motherland like a monster.

They vowed to work for the betterment of Pakistan after coming into power in the end.
