Three killed in Abbotabad after quake shakes Punjab and KP

A moderate tremor, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, was felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa early on Saturday.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) 5.1-magnitude earthquake was at a relatively shallow depth of 26 kilometres. Its epicentre was 15 kilometres to the northeast of Islamabad. However, Pakistan Metrological Department has recorded magnitude of the quake at 5.5 on Richter scale and depth at 10kms

Besides the twin cities, mild tremor jolted Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Batgram, Swabi, Kohistan, Malakand, Swat and adjacent areas.

At least three persons, including two women and one child, died when a roof of a house collapsed due to earthquake in Nara village of Tehsil Havelian, district Abbottabad.

According to reports, several houses also collapsed in many villages of district Abbottabad due to the tremors.
