Rs 200m for infrastructure boost

The district administration has allocated over Rs 200 million to carry out basis infrastructure projects at every union council (UCs) of Rawalpindi.

A source said that local leadership of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has asked civic authorities to get the work done within one month’s time as political parties gear up for local government elections.

The LG polls, if not postponed, have been scheduled for September, however, the Election Commission of Pakistan has hinted delay in holding elections in the wake of recent floods in Punjab and Sindh.

“The development projects including water and road repairing have been launched in every UC and funds worth millions of rupees are being released in this regard,” the source said.

Sharing details of the funds allocation, the source said that Rs 105,300 has been allocated for UC Chak Jalal Din, Rs 364,900 for UC Razzaq Town Chakra, Rs 308,300 for UC Faisal Colony Gulzar-e-Quaid, Rs 443,800 for UC 21 Service Road, Rs 122,100 for the repair and maintenance of  water electric motor on Service Road, Rs 7400,000 for the construction of water tank in Railway Scheme No 7.
