Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Altaf Hussain on Saturday suspended the party’s Karachi Rabita Committee for “failing to fulfill their responsibilities despite assurances”.

According to a MQM press statement, Hussain is hoping to constitute a new coordination committee in Karachi for which applications are being sought from senior party members. The MQM chief is also likely to take a decision on the future of the coordination committee in London either today or on Sunday.
According to the statement, Altaf Hussain said Kaiful Warah, Abdul Haseeb and Advocate Abdul Arif Khan would continue to be part of the Karachi coordination committee, adding that other committee members who have been suspended should no longer bother to visit the party’s headquarters, Nine-Zero.
Late Wednesday night, the MQM leader had directed the closure of all party offices, only to withdraw his decision a few hours later.
