Bureau Chief of Geo News Karachi Fahim Siddiqui was kidnapped from Karachi’s North Nazimabad area on Saturday before being dumped in Manghopir after subjecting him to torture, the reporter claimed.
According to Karachi police official Feroz Shah, Siddiqui told police that four men travelling in a vehicle had kidnapped him when he had left his home in Shahra-e-Noorjehan in his car. The reporter told police that three of the abductors were wearing police uniforms while the fourth man was in civvies. The assailants also snatched Siddiqui’s mobile phone and a licensed pistol from him.
Police official Shah said that Siddiqui told police that the kidnappers had subjected him to ‘slight torture’ before dumping him in Manghopir.
Karachi Central SSP Muqaddas Haider has been tasked to probe the kidnapping and torture of the senior journalist, said Feroz Shah.
Meanwhile, the journalist told his news channel that the kidnappers had used ‘abusive language’ against Geo News and him.
