The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to retrieve 30 acres of lands in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area from the land grabbers and hand it over to the lawful allottees.

Headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, the bench announced its verdict on as many as 30 petitions of Abdul Rahim Burney and 42 others, who approached it against the authorities for failing to give the possession of plots to them.

The petitioners had submitted that they had got allotted plots of different categories in the Scheme 36 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar by the erstwhile Karachi Development Authority, however, their physical possession could not be handed over to them because of encroachments on the plots.

In response to the petitions, the KMC submitted its reply contending that the plots were encroached upon by the land grabbers and they would be cleared of encroachments and handed over to the allottees when the law and order situation normalises. The bench directed the KMC to take over the possession of 30 acres of land from land mafia and hand it over to their original allottees.

The Sindh IG and Karachi police chief have been directed to provide all necessary backup to the KMC for taking the possession of land. They were further directed to set up at least four police pickets comprising not less than five police personnel at one picket till the process of handing over the possession to the allottees was completed.
