- Police arrest Deen, alleged member of banned outfit, for planning terrorist attack on Royal Palm Golf and Country Club by digging tunnel below his house
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Police have arrested Muhammad Deen, son of Muhammad Rashid, an alleged member of banned outfit Jamatud Dawa (JuD) who was digging a tunnel in his house located adjacent to the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club.
A police official who took part in the raid told Pakistan Today that Deen had been arrested from his house located in Taj Colony, Mughalpura area, adjacent to the club.
“We raided a compound following a tip-off and we are expecting more arrests in light of the information provided by the arrested suspect,” he added.
“He was digging the trench under his home to enter the club from where he was planning to carry out a terrorist activity,” the official said.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf told Pakistan Today that Deen’s house was located about 100 metres away from the boundary wall of the club.
An FIR has been registered against him at the CTD Police Station in Lahore under 7-ATA of the anti-terrorism act and other clauses.
Talking to Pakistan Today, the officials of the Jamatud dawa (JuD) denied that he was affiliated with the group.
Another official of the CTD told Pakistan Today that Muhammad Deen had completed training and a religious course called AMMA from Mansehra and he went for KHASA but didn’t complete it.
The club administration have beefed up security arrangements at the club and deployed a large number of security guards to deal with any untoward incident.
