After DJ Butt, it is now the catering and tent service providers who have alleged Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of defaulting on their payments.
The tent service providers Friday staged a protest demonstration outside the PTI chairman’s Banigala estate against the nonpayment of rent for the services provided during the party’s 126-day sit-in in the federal capital.
Chanting slogans, carrying banners and placards, Aabpara Market traders led by tent service provider Ishtiaq Gujjar stood outside the PTI leader’s home where an important meeting of the party was in progress to deliberate on the report of the General Election Inquiry Commission.
“The PTI owes us around Rs 4.6 million,” Gujjar told reporters.
Gujjar said he had tried to contact several leaders of PTI time and again, but to no avail. “If the PTI doesn’t pay up in three days, we will escalate our protests on the city roads along with trade bodies of the federal capital from Monday.
Later, PTI’s Central Information Secretary Naeem-ul-Haque came out of the residence and held talks with the protesters.
The protesters agreed to disperse after Haq gave them his word on timely payment of their outstanding dues.
Earlier this month, musician DJ Butt claimed that the PTI owes him Rs 81 million of a total of Rs 140 million, the cumulative fee for the services provided during 126-day-long Islamabad sit in.
