Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Director General Sher Afgan said on Friday that the Judicial Commission report on the rigging probe had vindicated the ECP.
Sher Afgan said that the ECP would try to eliminate shortcomings identified in the judicial commission report.
“This report will act as a guide for us (ECP). You will see a vast improvement in the 2018 elections after electoral reforms and guidelines in this report.” He added that the report informs the ECP where there is room for improvement and there is enough time before the 2018 elections for electoral reforms and improving current procedures.
On Thursday, the three-member commission released its final report, rejecting claims by the Imran Khan-led PTI that the 2013 general elections were rigged and saying the polls were largely fair and in accordance with the law.
