Former caretaker chief minister of Punjab, Najam Sethi said on Thursday that he will bury the hatchet if Imran Khan apologises for making false allegations against him.
“However if Imran Khan does not say sorry I will not back down from pursuing a defamation suit against him,” Sethi told a news channel. He said that the judicial commission verdict was not surprising for him because no rigging had taken place under his watch. “However, there were some irregularities,” he conceded.
Sethi said that Imran Khan’s politics and popularity had taken a ‘dent’ after the recent verdict. “People are getting more disappointed by Imran Khan’s politics,” he said.
Meanwhile, former chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has also welcomed the judicial commission’s decision, saying the enquiry report proves that the PTI had made baseless allegations regarding rigging in the general elections.
The former chief justice also announced to address a press conference over the JC report on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that Khan had called Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as “mastermind” of riggings in May 2013 general elections.
