Naan bhais in certain areas of Rawalpindi have increased price of naan and roti by Rs 2 each without getting prior approval from the local administration’s price control committee.

Earlier, naan and roti were available at Rs 8 and Rs 7 respectively but with the hikein the price, naan is now available at Rs 10 and roti for Rs 9.

The local administration has fixed naan at Rs8 and roti at Rs6, however, the naan bhais were already selling roti (pateeri) at higher price than the fixed one.

This time again, the naan bhais have jacked up prices without prior approval from the local administration.

The weight and size of roti and naan, 140 and 135 grams respectively, was also not being followed by tandoor walas and the local administration has also failed to enforce the regulation

Meanwhile, Naanbai Association President Sardar Siddique has condemned the move on part of some individual tandooris to increase prices. He asked them to stop selling naan and roti at the new price. He said that some tandoor walas try to increase prices on every Eid while keeping the association in the dark.
