Sindh Minister for Information and Irrigation Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief to seek public apology for keeping nation confused on basis of his unfounded allegations about rigging in polls.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, following change in his portfolio from education to information in the Sindh cabinet, the senior PPP leader said dismissal of PTI complaint by a judicial commission comprising senior most members of the apex court must settle the matter for good.
“There is a dire need to focus on issues related to masses and their well being,” said senior minister of Sindh emphasizing that democratic stability was key to achieve the goal of social-well being among the masses.
Acknowledging that this was his first press conference after assuming his responsibilities as Sindh minister for information and irrigation, he said the irrigation department was fully vigilant of emerging flood situation in its riverain areas. Things, he said, were under absolute control as 300,000 to 400,000 cusecs water was flowing under Guddu Barrage against 1.2 million cusecs to 1.3 million cusecs in 2010 floods.
On the basis of information provided by concerned officials, he said flood water ranging between 500,000 cusecs to 600,000 cusecs was expected to pass through other sites. “Given the situation and more for the sake of precaution, leaves granted to staffers and officials of the provincial irrigation department have been canceled,” said Khuhro.
He also mentioned that chief engineers as well as superintendent engineers had also been directed to visit the barrages and embankments as well as other relevant installations on regular basis so as to take immediate notice and avert any unexpected situation.
