Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Altaf Hussain late on Wednesday ordered all party offices, including the headquarters at Nine-Zero, be shut down but the party chairman withdrew his directive just hours later.
Altaf Hussain was reportedly angry with the Rabita committee over certain organisational matters. According to some reports, Altaf Hussain had hung up the phone abruptly during a late night teleconference with his party members after ordering them to shut all MQM offices.
Reports said that after Altaf Hussain’s directive to close the offices, the Rabita committee members, parliamentarians and other office-bearers immediately stopped work. They then converged outside the MQM chief’s Azizabad residence in a bid to placate Hussain.
