Shahbaz Sharif tells officials to be on toes as flood inundates several villages

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued instructions from London to Provincial Cabinet Committee on Flood that relief activities should be started in flood affected villages of south Punjab on war footing.

He said that besides setting up relief camps, medical camps should also be established in affected areas and abundant stocks of necessary medicines should also be maintained. He said that besides food items, mineral water should also be available in relief camps so that the affected persons should not have any problem. He said that the problems of the flood affectees are my own problems and the people of affected villages will not be left alone.

Sharif issued further instructions to the Cabinet Committee on Flood that immediate measures should be taken for protection of the people living around rivers and complete evacuation of people from such villages should be ensured. He said that additional boats should also be sent to affected villages of south Punjab and the administration and relief institutions should extend all out help to the flood affected people. He said that he is personally monitoring relief activities and no laxity or negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

Shahbaz Sharif while taking notice of the news regarding flood in the villages of Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and Layyah has directed Cabinet Committee on Flood and administrative officers of the concerned districts to take all out measures for providing relief to the people of inundated villages. He said that there should be proper arrangements for the stay of the people in relief camps and all out facilities be provided to them on priority basis.

He further directed that it is not the time to stay at home or in the office but to help the affected brethrens and sister therefore cabinet committee should visit the affected villages to review the situation and monitor relief activities. He further directed that Cabinet Committee on Flood should hold meetings on daily basis and review the flow of rivers and take immediate protective measures where necessary. He said that information should be exchanged between provincial and federal institutions through effective coordination and lack of contact between the concerned departments will not be tolerated.
