Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has said that members of the national team need to follow the code of conduct that is mentioned in their central contracts by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Asked about the recent comments made by former captain and senior batsman, Younis Khan on different issues, Miandad said it was up to the players to understand what to say and not to say under the code of conduct.

“I really don’t know in what context Younis has made his remarks but definitely players must follow the code of conduct and it is the job of the PCB to ensure this happens,” he said.

Sri Lanka’s former captain and chief selector, Sanath Jayasuria also agreed with Miandad insisting that every country had a code of conduct for players and it must be followed and implemented by the board.

“From what I have heard if Younis has said he wants to captain the team again, that is his opinion and he can have that, there is nothing wrong with that but in other issues it is job of board to convince players to follow the code for them,” he said on a sports channel.

Miandad, who has also thrice remained coach of the national team, said he would advise the board to have a straight talk with Younis and listen to what he has to say.

“Younis has given a lot to Pakistan cricket and he deserves to be heard by board officials. He must be heard on his desire to play ODI cricket or his ambition to captain the team. But yes I don’t think Younis needed to also talk about these things in public he should have talked to the board. There are some things players shouldn’t discuss in public,” Miandad insisted.

He said whatever Younis had said about the comparison between him and Misbah-ul-Haq it was not a good thing.

“I don’t know but what happens now when both sit in the same dressing room. These things cause problems and every player has his band of supporters in the team. And when misunderstandings happens it encourages groupings and it is not good for the team,” Miandad added.

Younis, in his controversial comments in two interviews, said no should compare him with Misbah since the latter batted down the order and he batted up the order and secondly he (Younis) was more experienced and had scored more runs and was younger to Misbah so there was no comparison.

Pakistan’s test off-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq, however, felt that both Younis and Misbah were mature and sensible persons and there be no problems between them or in the dressing room.

  1. As Pak captaincy is a pride so any one can wish, its not the first time that any player say this.YK is refuse captancy many times which is rare in pak cricket, everybody else ran after captaincy.he is not comparable to misbah but he should not say this in public.some people are also producing misconceptions about his intrview, showing it out of context.

  2. The US created the havoc in Ukraine, for that explicit reason, to shift the focus. However Putin, masterfully, forged extensive energy, military ,and cultural ties with China. China is the real prize, and Putin knows this. The US is about to be strangled economically..and they don't have a clue.
