People throng recreational places to celebrate Eid

A number of people including women and children thronged various recreational places including parks and cinemas on the third day of Eidul Fitr on Monday in the provincial capital.

Thousands of people visited the Lahore Museum, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Minto Park, Shalamar Bagh, Lahore Fort and Lahore Zoo to enjoy the Eid festivities. Cinema houses were also jam packed with families as well as youth while people had to wait for hours to buy tickets due to long queues in cinemas.

The traffic flow on various roads in the city remained smooth, however traffic mess was also observed outside parks, cinemas and other recreational places on the third day while children were seen playing cricket on streets and some deserted thoroughfares.

Some visitors at Bagh-e-Jinnah said that they had come to the recreational points to enjoy Eid, adding that the government should evolve more arrangements including cleanliness, water coolers, parking and others to facilitate the visitors.

They said that monitoring and checking of prices and quality of food items at cafeterias in parks should also ensured as some owners of canteens were fleecing the people and selling sub-standard food items.

A spokesman of traffic police said that the City Traffic Police (CTP) had also made elaborate traffic and parking arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic on roads and facilitate the people on Eid days.
