LAHORE: Sufi singer Abida Parveen escaped an accident on motorway from Lahore to Islamabad, along with two others.

Ms Parveen along with University of Health Sciences’ former vice-chancellor Prof Dr Husain Mubashir and PTV World anchor Taimur Shamil was going to Islamabad a day before Eid by a car.

“When we reached Chakri (motorway), water level rose to several feet, forcing us to jump out of the vehicle before it was completely washed away by the rain,” Mr Shamil a local media outlet.

He said a number of other vehicles were too stuck in the water and the people were crying for help.

The team later survived and were taken back to their respective cities.
