As preparations for local government elections gear up, the provincial election commission has registered 40,681 new voters in the Rawalpindi district.
For the elections, scheduled for September, around 19 eunuch have also been registered as voters by the local election commission, a source in the local administration said.
According to the source, returning officers have been hired and their training will start after Eid holidays. The source said that the returning officers have been taken from civil bureaucracy instead of judiciary.
Meanwhile, hearing into complaints over the new delimitation of union councils will be held on July 27. The new voters’ enrolment will continue till the announcement of the LG election schedule, the source said adding that teachers have been engaged to enroll the new voters.
