KARACHI:
A senior BOL TV official was shot dead in Karachi late Wednesday night, according to police, Thursday.
Police claimed that the killing appeared to be the outcome of an attempted robbery while the media house said it believed that it was a targeted killing incident.
Ali Noman, 35, was gunned down near the busy Hyderi Market in North Nazimabad.
According to the police, Mr Noman was travelling in a car when two gunmen on a motorcycle approached him at around 1:10am.
They attacked him and fled. He sustained a single bullet wound in the head and was taken to a private hospital on Stadium Road where doctors declared him dead on arrival at around 2am.
“An initial probe suggested that the murder seemed to be the outcome of a carjacking bid,” said Karachi-West DIG Feroze Shah. However, the senior officer added that the inspector general of police had set up a team led by him to investigate the case and they were looking into its other aspects also. The DIG said the victim belonged to the Shia Ismaili community.
