A girl was killed as Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing on Keerni Mori village from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Naiza Pir sector of Haveili district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Friday.

According to local administration sources, the deceased was identified as 18-year old Zareena Bibi

A senior civil administration officer of Haveili said that the Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing in violation of ceasefire in Naiza Pir Sector at 1am on Friday, which continued for about three hours. The Pakistan Army personnel appropriately retaliated to the Indian firing, said the official.

Meanwhile, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said that Pakistan Army has registered a complaint with United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) against ceasefire violations by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.

The ISPR statement said, “In its case Pakistan Army highlighted the Indians’ use of heavy mortars and machine guns on civil population, living along working boundary and line of control, which has resulted into martyrdom of four civilians and injured five other during the past two days.

“UNMOGIP was asked to use its good offices to investigate Indian cease fire violation,” ISPR said.
