Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while issuing instructions for ensuring foolproof security arrangements in the province on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, has said that protection of life and property of citizens is the prime responsibility of police and it should take all out measures for this purpose.
CM said that foolproof security of mosques, Imam Bargahs and Eid congregations should be ensured and police should perform its duties with commitment and efficiency. The Chief Minister issued instructions to Inspector. General Police Punjab regarding deployment of additional force in shopping centres, plazas and markets.
He said that police authorities should remain in the field for reviewing security arrangements and warned that no laxity will be tolerated regarding security arrangements on Eid.
He added that the ban on display of firearms should be strictly implemented while police officers should remain alert and maintain a close contact.
Shahbaz Sharif said that a watchful eye should be kept on miscreants and criminal elements should be rooted out.
He said the country was passing through a critical phase therefore the situation demands emergent measures. CM remarked that there was a heavy responsibility on police and law enforcement agencies in the existing situation.

Shafqat added that a contingent of reserve police and bomb disposal unit would carry out patrolling in and around the premises to avert any act of sabotage, pick-pocketing or eve-teasing. ‘Services of a batch of armed security guards have also been acquired from the private sector’, he added.
