‘Ensure foolproof security during Jumatul Wida, Eid congregations’

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to ensure foolproof security during congregations of Jumatul Wida and Eidul Fitr.

While addressing a high-level meeting to review overall law and order situation in the province, the Punjab CM said that every possible step is being taken for the security of public.

The police should perform their duties diligently and with devotion to further improve security situation in the province, he said.

The Punjab CM also directed that arrangements for foolproof security should be guaranteed on the occasion of Jumatul Wida, Chaand Raat and Eidul Fitr whereas senior police authorities should remain in the field to review the security measures.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Punjab Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, inspector general (IG) of police and other higher authorities concerned.

Kabir said that though the government had banned the protests but implementation in letter and spirit was a problem.

He said that traffic messes is also causing undue damage to the trade and economic activities in the city. The City District Government would have to evolve a plan to resolve this issue at the earliest. He also stressed the need for parking plazas at various city markets.

Commissioner Lahore Abdullah Khan Sumbal said that Nasir Bagh would be allocated for rallies and protests and ban on protests at the Mall should be implemented strictly.
