CDA to go after katchi abadis after Eid

On the directions of CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is carrying out an operation against encroachments and adverse possession of CDA lands across the federal capital.

The momentum of the operation would be expedited as CDA has planned to launch a grand operation against illegal katchi abadies (slums) in collaboration with the Islamabad Administration and ICT Police after Eidul Fitr.

Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed has directed the Enforcement Directorate, CDA to expedite the ongoing operation and constitute special teams to carry out a grand operation against the illegal occupation of CDA land after Eid.  He also directed to ensure strict monitoring and vigilance during the Eid holidays to discourage the encroachments in the city. CDA has evolved a comprehensive strategy to remove the encroachments and retrieve the CDA land from adverse possession specially with regard to carrying out operation in the katchi abadis to make it result oriented.

The authority has also sought assistance and in collaboration with relevant organisation to make the operation a success. It has been decided that the relevant departments like Sui Gas, Telephone and ISECO has been asked to disconnect the supply of utilities to these illegal dwelling and slums to support the momentum of the operation. CDA has been carrying out an operation in Sector C-16 and adjoining areas to remove the encroachments.

The authority has also launched an awareness campaign for the operation and special announcements are being carried out through loud speakers in the mosques and displaying the banners near the illegal possessions to intimate the occupants that they should vacating the CDA land, failing which a comprehensive operation would be launched.

Member Administration has directed to carry out operation and retrieve the CDA land without any favour.
