KP minister orders 50pc drop in wheat transportation charges

KP Minister for Food Haji Qalandar Khan Lodhi has ordered a 50 per cent decrease in the transportation  charges  of wheat  due to the decrease in fuel  prices  in the country during the current quarter.

The decision will result in a deduction of Rs 9,300,000 from the transportation bills of contractors and the funds will be deposited back into the provincial kitty.

He took this decision following the consensus of the Provincial Food committee in its meeting for reviewing POL rates of wheat transportation for the current and next quarter that was held at office of the Food Minister in Civil Sect Peshawar on Tuesday. It will apply to the inter provincial and inter district supply of wheat to various depots and godowns. The meeting besides Director Food Mohammad Anwar Khan was also attended by representatives from Finance, Law departments and contractor community.

Addressing on this occasion, Qalandar Lodhi expressed the confidence that reduction in transportation charges would directly benefit the general masses. He said that the PTI led coalition govt under the dynamic leadership of CM KP was embarking upon a comprehensive welfare oriented policy that was aimed at providing relief to the poor in particular.

Elaborating on efforts by the Food department, the minister said that besides  concrete steps for  providing quality essential food commodities to the people on reasonable rates, its hygiene was also  being  ensured. He said  his  govt would continue  endeavouring  for ameliorating a lot of the poor owing  to which life standard  of  the people  would be improved with each passing day.
