Kashmiri leaders welcomed Pakistan’s support for their cause and said that Sartaj Aziz’s assertion that no talks will be held with India sans Kashmir, gave new courage to Kashmiris.
Former AJK prime minister and PML-N leader, Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that Pakistan has always supported Kashmiri peoples’ right of self-determination. People of Pakistan and the government always stand with their Kashmiri brethren.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Yaseen Malik, said that the entire world knows that the dream of peace in South Asia cannot come true without resolving Kashmir dispute.
Hurriyet leader Javed Mir said that the statement given by Sartaj Aziz that Pakistan will not hold talks with India without the Kashmir issue on the agenda is a positive gesture.
Founding Member of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Anjum Zamurd Habib said statement by Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has vital importance. Resolution of te Kashmir dispute is mandatory for peace in the region. Meeting between the prime ministers of Pakistan and India is a good development.
Senior Analyst Doctor Pervaiz Iqbal Cheema said that the Kashmir dispute is the main source of contention between India and Pakistan. The world has realised that Indo-Pak relations cannot be improved till the resolution of this dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiris. India has been violating the UN resolutions on Kashmir. The international community should interfere and force India to give the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir as per resolutions of United Nations.
