CIA police arrest 15 members of ‘robbery gang’

CIA Police arrested 15 members of a gang of robbers on Tuesday, recovering stolen items worth more than Rs3.3 million from them in the process.

The gang comprised of eight women and seven men, and was headed by Shamshad alias Pathani.

The CIA SP Muhammad Umar Virk said the women used to look for work as domestic help in posh localities or would pretend to deliver sweets.

They would then hold the residents hostage and call their accomplices over to the house.

Shamshad and  Abida Bibi, Naveza Bibi, Salma, Sabra, Mahek, Iqra Shahzadi, Nadia alias Nadi, Muhammad Farooq, Waheed Qaiser, Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Nadeem, Tahir Mahmood, Waqas Ahmad and Muhammad Nadeem were amongst those arrested.

SP Virk further said the suspects had confessed to carrying out 19 house robberies in the Defence Housing Authority, Gulberg, Iqbal Town, Nawab Town, Lytton Road, Ghaziabad and Nishtar Colony.
