Supreme Court (SC) has sought list of doctors who observed strike from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) till July 27 .
The court remarked, “People are dying and doctors who are called Messiah are observing a strike. No one will be allowed to do any illegal things in this way.”
Justice Jawwad S Khawaja has remarked, “PMDC is a regulatory institution and it should not go dysfunctional. No one will die in hospitals if it performs its function honestly. During our time our degree was recognised in US, France and every country of the world and now our degrees are not recognised internationally . Unluckily, this is the age of money. We get salary out of public money. PMDC authorities too get their salary out of public money. No Man-o-Salwa comes down from the heaven for them.”
Justice Dost Muhammad Khan remarked, “People and students are major stake holders. A student obtains a degree after spending Rs 5 million but later parents ask them to earn.”
A two-member bench of SC led by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing Monday.
Anwar Mansoor told the court about 16 petitions including the present one are pending hearing against PMDS in the high courts all over the country.
Iftikhar Gillani advocate said the ordinance which was issued for PMDC in 2014 was rejected by the senate. The seven-member committee constituted under that ordinance is still working while it should also have been abolished.
The court remarked as the present bench is two-member bench and three-member bench will give a decision of this case therefore, the hearing is adjourned. Next hearing will take place on July 27.
