Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Jeddah on Saturday night to perform Umrah.

At King Abdulaziz International Airport, the Pakistani prime minister was received by Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, officials of Pakistani embassy and a number of Saudi officials.

After Umrah, PM Sharif met King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The meeting lasted for about an hour held in the holy city of Makkah.

According to a PM House statement, the Saudi King also hosted an Iftar dinner in honour of the prime minister.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoy close brotherly and strategic relations. Both countries have cooperated with each other in times of crisis and have focused on strengthening trade ties.

In April, PM Nawaz and Army chief General Raheel Sharif had visited Saudia for a day. Upon their arrival, the delegation was received by Prince Mohammad bin Nayef Al-Saud, deputy crown prince and minister for interior, Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud and defence minister at the airport.
