Over two dozen Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) employees have been working on contract basis for last 21 years and provincial health department could not regularize their services, it was learned on Saturday.

Sources at Sindh AIDS Control Program said over 25 employees of the program include doctors, technicians, computer operators, peons and other staffers are still working in contract basis despite the passage of 21 years. The uncertainty prevails among these employees about their future. Their performance has also declined due to this factor.

These employees, in past, staged protest demonstrations and  sit-ins outside the Sindh AIDS Control Program office on several occasions but to no avail.

The health department authorities had assured they would be regularized on their post soon but the promise could not be fulfilled so far.

The employees demand of the Secretary Health Sindh Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo and Provincial Program Manager Sindh AIDS Control Program to regularize all contract employees of the program.

Sindh AIDS Control Program’s Provincial Program Manager Dr Younis Chachar was not available for comment.
