The Sindh High Court on Friday granted a pre-arrest bail to the Board of Revenue’s officer who was facing an investigation for his alleged involvement in corrupt practices of illegal allotment of land.
A division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar approved the bail for Abdul Rahim Soomro, EDO Revenue Dadu against surety bond of Rs 2,00,000, directing him to cooperate with the investigation officer.
The applicant submitted that the NAB officials were conducting an enquiry against him and other officers of Board of Revenue for issuing an order in 2004 through which several entries of lands were kept in Village Form VII-B transferring many acres of land belonging to the Sindh government to the private persons in Deh Katokohar, Taluka Thano Bhola Khan. Denying the allegations, the applicant said, he had issued all orders lawfully, adding he was ready to appear before the investigation officer and provide all the relevant information but he apprehends his arrest by the NAB authorities. Therefore, he pleaded with the judges to grant him bail before arrest.
