The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has served show-cause notices to five of its staffers, including a deputy-director and an assistant-director, for failing to stop an illegal construction on the High Court Road.

An illegal structure has popped up on the main road and the builder has constructed it with the connivance of the RDA building control department staffers, a source in the civic agency said.

Building control employees have been directed to explain their position within five days as to how the illegal structure was allowed to be constructed.

RDA Building Control Department Director, Jameshed Aftab, said that no one could be allowed to construct illegal structures and whosoever was found involved in the illegal practice will face an investigation.

He said that show cause notices have been issued to Deputy-Director Tariq Mayo, Assistant-Director Sami Ullah Niazi, Enforcement In charge Rana Tariq, Building Superintendent Aslam Shah  and Building Inspector Raja Arsalan.

“Departmental proceedings will be initiated as soon as we get replies from these employees,” Aftab added.
