The Flour Mills Association has announced a countrywide strike from Saturday after talks with the federal government failed.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, the association’s spokesman said that all the flour mills will remain closed on Saturday. He said that they will stop washing from Friday and all 1,350 mills will not provide flour. He said that no GST is imposed on ‘chokar’ (bran) across the world, but it has been imposed on millers for first time in Pakistan.
He called for immediate withdrawal of seven per cent GST on bran otherwise they would be forced to increase the price of flour.
