An accused in police lockup died reportedly of snakebite on Friday.
Baghan Shaikh, 40, resident of Wikriyo village, was arrested by Areeja Phero police for alleged involvement in criminal activities two days ago and detained in Bakrani police station lockup, sources said. They said last night he was bitten by a snake and was rushed to Casualty of Chandka Medical College Hospital on Friday where he died.
However, brother of the deceased Bakhshal Shaikh, and other relatives alleged that he was severely tortured by police due to which he died. SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz said that a case was registered against the deceased criminal and he was put in the Bakrani police station where a snake bit and he expired in the hospital. He said the postmortem report would reveal the exact cause of his death.
