The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday arrested seven Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorists in Karachi.
Sources said that Counter Terrorism Department conducted an operation in Maripur area and arrested Haji Sher Muhammad along with his six accomplices. The CTD also seized huge cache of weapons from the possession of terrorists.
The Counter Terrorism Department spokesman said the suspects were involved in several terrorist activities including extortion and kidnapping for ransom. He said that Haji Sher Muhammad has close links with TTP chief Umar Khalid Khorasani and was conducting terrorist activities on his directions.
25 INJURED AS BUS OVERTURNS
As many as 25 people including women were injured when a passenger bus over turned due to over speeding and poor condition of road here on Friday.
Police said a Kasur-bound passenger bus coming from Karachi turned turtle at National Highway in Junejo locality of Khairpur. Six women among 25 passengers were injured in the accident who were rushed to Civil Hospital Khairpur for treatment. According to hospital sources their condition was stable.
Police said poor condition of the road and over speeding were the reasons behind the accident. After registering a case against the driver, they said, further investigations were underway.
ONE KILLED, FIVE INJURED IN ROAD MISHAPS
A man was killed and five others injured in different road mishaps in the metropolis on Friday.
A man, Muhammad Khursheed Khan, 45, son of Abdur Rahman, was killed when a speeding vehicle hit him near Natha Khan Bridge. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy.
A 35-year-old woman was injured when a speeding vehicle hit her in Block L Orangi Town. She was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. A youth, Omer, 23, was wounded by unknown vehicle near Ashyana in Clifton. He was rushed to JPMC for treatment.
Yet in another incident, three people, Mubashir, 25, Asghar, 28, son of Ameen, and Sanaullah, 30, son of Naeem was injured when a vehicle hit them while they were riding a motorbike near police check post in Baldia Town. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
DACOIT ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTOUT
An alleged dacoit was arrested after a police shootout in Site Area on Friday.
Police arrested accused Zohaib Khan, 30, in wounded condition after an encounter in the jurisdiction of SITE- police station. They said that police conducted a raid during which the dacoit opened fire on police but got injured in retaliatory fire. A weapon was recovered from his possession. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance.
