ISLAMABAD/KARACHI:
The provincial government, on late Wednesday, extended the policing powers of the paramilitary force for 30 more days in the Sindh province of Pakistan, after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan assured the Sindh CM that Rangers would not be interfering in the provincial autonomy, it has been learnt.
A notification was issued by the federal interior ministry.
Four months ago, Rangers had been given special powers to detain suspects for 90 days, and it expired on July 8.
The decision was taken after Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and directed him to issue a notification of extension in the Rangers’ deployment without any delay.
This should be extended indefinitely, to wipe out the Bhatta Mafia, the Land Mafia & Target Killers (in one word MQM).
