KMC administrator suspends 2 officers for ‘illegal lease of govt land’

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has suspended two officers on charges of granting illegal lease of the government land.

This was pointed out in a statement of the KMC issued on Thursday. It said he also asked senior director of human resource management to issue show cause notices to the two officers identified as Director Land of KMC, Muhammad Wasim Shaikh, and Deputy Director Land (Lease) Bin Qasim, Aslam Shaikh.

The KMC administrator also directed that action be initiated against the two officers under RSO, the KMC statement added.

It said that senior director veterinary had complained that the land department in collusion with the area Mukhtarkar had granted ‘illegal lease’ of 14 precious plots of the KMC which resulted in various problems and caused loss of millions of rupees.

The KMC administrator further directed that the illegal lease be cancelled forthwith. He also directed that action be initiated under RSO against those officers and employees found involved in illegal acts. He asked the KMC officers to perform their work in a legal manner and anything illegal in the KMC would not be tolerated, the KMC statement added.
