Widespread rain at various places across the country

The meteorological office on Monday morning forecasted light rain and thunderstorm across the country. By evening, the sporadic drizzle had snowballed into heavy rain across Punjab.

Lahore saw constant rainfall of about three hours until the filing of this report. Additionally, there were reports of monsoon canals clogged in the provincial metropolis.

Met office has forecasted widespread rain and thundershower in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Hazara divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir starting at night on Monday. The forecast stated that the rain would sporadically continue across the country for 24 hours.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) scattered rainfall was expected in all major cities of Punjab and Kashmir.

Rain and thunderstorm was expected in Sargodha, Sahiwal, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions, FATA, as well as Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours.

PMD revealed in its report that due to the synoptic situation, seasonal low was lying over north Balochistan with its trough extending southeastwards. Monsoon currents were penetrating into central and upper parts of the country and were expected to strengthen and were likely to continue during next few days.
