Weekly bazaar administration kicked into shape

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed has directed the weekly bazaar administration to ensure effective monitoring to provide quality food stuff to the residents.

Chairing a meeting to review the arrangements to provide quality edible items at affordable rates at CDA’s weekly bazaars, he expressed satisfaction that the stability in prices of different edible items and availability in abundance have largely benefitted the residents of twin cities during the holy month of Ramadan.

In-charge Weekly Bazaars, Liaquat Abbasi apprised the Member Administration and Estate that Weekly Bazaar’s administration has taken consolidated steps to provide fresh and quality edible items at affordable rates resultantly these daily use items are being sold at cheaper rates than the other markets of Islamabad.  He apprised that strict and effective monitoring is being ensured and for the first time complaint centres have been established in the fruits and vegetable section, in addition to bazaar administration office, to facilitate the consumers visiting these bazaars.

He was apprised that during special checking 11 stalls have been suspended for overcharging during the month of Ramadan.  He informed the meeting that earlier, on the directions of Member Administration a meeting was also held between bazaar Administration and stall holders representatives where they agreed to minimize their profits from Rs 5 to 10 on each item.  He apprised that due to effective monitoring different edible items which include Potato, Onion, Tomato, Ginger, Garlic, Lemon, Green Chili, Lady Finger, Peas, Brinjal, White Pumpkin,  Bell pepper, Bitter Gourd, Apple, Banana, Mango and Melon which were sold at Rs. 30, 50, 50, 280, 200, 200, 60, 50, 180, 40, 40, 60, 40, 140, 220, 160 and 50 per kg/dozen respectively in different markets of Islamabad while these commodities were sold at Rs. 22, 41, 40, 244, 128, 128, 30, 34, 100, 16, 20, 36, 22, 120, 130, 120 and 40 per kg / dozen  respectively at CDA weekly bazaars during the last week.  Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed has directed the In-charge weekly bazaar to take more steps to maintain the stability in the prices.

He directed to enhance the security of the bazaars and directed the bazaar staff for prompt redressal of the complaints of the consumers.

He said that the price difference shows that these bazaars are providing relief to the residents but strict and indiscriminate operation would remain continue against the violators.
