ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for Norway on Monday to participate in the ‘Oslo Summit on Education for Development’, according to sources.

The visit would prove to be a milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries, as it is the first official visit by a Pakistani premier to Norway in over a decade.

Experts hope that the visit will help strengthening the ties between Pakistan and Norway.

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg had invited his Pakistani counterpart to participate in the Oslo Summit on Education for Development.

  1. Let us be charitable towards the PM. He has visited Norway before but then it was winter. Neither he nor his entourage were properly dressed for the winter in Oslo . The temp.was minus twenty. He almost slipped outside the Grand Hotel and hurried in! But he did point out grandly that Pakistani motorways were better than Norwegians. His stay wa shorter.! Now he is visiting in Summer for a longer stay. The weather is fine, midnight sun, no load shedding, no water shortage and now of cource Pakistani culinary delights are easily available in Gronland. That might explain perhaps his long er visit. I hope Oslos will not come to a standstill like when President Musharraf visited for a day. (to his credit he managed to meet every one in that period). I hope the PM entourage will not be very large as it was when the late ZAB visited Sweden donkey years ago when guests from a prominent hotel had to be forcibly relocated, The late PM Palmo was not amused. Oh i almost forgot the PM is attending a summit on education which any education minister could attend. The former PM of Norway used to call such summits as tea parties and she used to put with the Norwegian Ambassdor. By the way she travelled tourist class. Have a nice stay Mr.PM.
