Nawaz, Modi to meet in Russia on July 10

NEW DELHI:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are set to meet at a security summit in Russia on July 10, as per reports.

The meeting would take place in the Russian city Ufa, as the leaders will attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, sources confirmed to NDTV.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah claimed that there had been no formal contact between the two leaders regarding the meeting.

Indian PM Modi is expected to raise India’s concerns regarding terrorism, including the alleged mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attack Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi who was allowed to walk free in April, sources say.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping said, ”India and Pakistan’s admission to the SCO will play an important role in the SCO’s development, it will play a constructive role in pushing for the improvement of their bilateral relations.”

It is the first time the grouping has expanded since 2001.
