NAB files reference of Rs 48.2 million against Railways officials

The Lahore National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed corruption reference of Rs. 48.2 million in Accountability CourtLahore against Officers/Officials of Pakistan Railways’ commonly known as ‘Pig Iron Case’.

The accused persons named Zahoor Khattak, the then Chief Controller of Purchase, Pakistan Railway, Saeed Akhtar, the then General Manager (Operation), Pakistan Railway, Sameeullah Khan, the then Chief Controller of Stores (CCS), Pakistan Railway, Behzad Mehmood, the then Chief Mechanical Engineer (Loco), Pakistan Railway, Yawar Abbas, the then Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer, Pakistan Railway, Tariq Maqsood, the then Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer, Pakistan Railway, S. Amin-ud-Din, the then Deputy Manager Accounts Pakistan Steel Mills,  Zonal Officer, Lahore, Suhail Sana Qazi, the then Deputy Chief Engineer/ Incharge Pakistan Steel Mills, Zonal Office, Lahore, Jawad Ahmad, Manager M/s Pak Steel Traders, Lahore and Zeeshan Ahmad, Contractor / Proprietor, M/s Pak Steel Traders, Lahore were alleged for misuse of authority, violation of Public Procurement Rules, 2004, without advertising the tender notice and  the officials of Pakistan Railways in connivance with the contractor namely M/s Pak Steel Traders, Lahore awarded contract for procurement of 500 M. Ton. Pig Iron to M/s Pak Steel Traders, Lahore thus causing loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
