The Islamabad High Court on Monday withdrew a contempt of court notice it had issued to the defence secretary for his non-appearance in the case of a kidnapped lawyer.
The court against sought replies from the defence secretary and the ISI director-general.
Earlier, the court had issued the contempt of court notice to the secretary defence and the DG ISI for their non-appearing on July 3.
When IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up the case for hearing on Monday, counsel for the kidnapped lawyer, Hammad Dandan, Advocate Raja Halim Khan Abbasi and Additional Attorney General (AAG) Afnan Karim Kundi appeared before the court.
Abbasi pleaded the court that they should be told if his client was involved in any crime. If so, he should be arrested and indicted as per law, instead of kidnapping him. Otherwise such tactics will cause a blot on national institutions.
The AAG told the court that he will pursue the case on behalf of the federation and will contact the ISI and the defence ministry in this regard. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till Wednesday.
